Women's Cross Country Places Third at Seven Sisters; Johnson Named to All-Championship Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Led by senior Jen Johnson's seventh-place finish (19:45.21), the Swarthmore College women's cross country team finished in third place at the 30th annual Seven Sisters Championships hosted by Bryn Mawr at Haverford College on Saturday.

 

As a team, the Garnet finished with a total of 86 points, trailing only Wellesley College (59 points) and Vassar College (33 points), the overall winners of the race.

For her top 10 finish, Johnson was named to the All-Seven Sisters Championship Team.

Three other Swarthmore seniors finished in the top 20, including Stephanie Beebe (14th/20:12.43), Melissa Frick (16th/20:15.40) and Katie Gonzalez (18th/20:19.58).

Rounding out the top seven finishers for the Garnet were sophomore Emma Saarel (37th/20:57.93), senior Amanda Eng (44th/21:14.30) and immediately behind Eng finished senior Margret Lenfest (45th/21:14.30)

The team has a few days of rest before the Haverford Invitational on Friday, October 21, which will be the team's last race before the Centennial Conference Championship.
