Women's Cross Country Competes in Paul Short Brown Run
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Melissa Frick was the top finisher for the Swarthmore College women's cross country team for the second-consecutive week with a time of 23:28, leading the Garnet to a 27th place finish in the Brown Race of the Paul Short Run Friday afternoon.
Competing against top competition from across Divisions I through III, the Garnet held its own, only finishing behind nationally-ranked Haverford (7th) and Muhlenberg (26th) among Centennial competitors.
Senior Jen Johnson finished right behind Frick, crossing the finish line in a time of 23:50, good for 90th place. Senior Stephanie Beebe (24:10), senior Katie Gonzalez (24:33) and sophomore Emma Saarel (25:33) rounded out the Top 5 for Swat. Senior Amanda Eng (25:37) and freshman Allison Shultes (26:57) also put up strong showings.
The Garnet women return to action at the DeSales Invite on October 8. The race is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
