Volleyball Trumps the Aggies 3-1; Advance to ECAC Semifinal
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - For the second straight year, the Swarthmore volleyball team has won its first round ECAC tournament match with a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16) rout of the Delaware Valley Aggies (21-9) on Wednesday night in Tarble Pavilion. With the win, Swarthmore improved to 24-7 on the season, marking Swat's best record in program history. The win also earns the Garnet a spot in the ECAC Semifinals on Saturday.

Streaking Volleyball Goes Undefeated in Garnet Weekend Quad Match
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (21-6, 5-3 CC) celebrated homecoming and senior day on Saturday with a sweep of the competition at the Garnet Weekend quad match in Tarble Pavilion, shutting down Susquehanna 3-1, Richard Stockton 3-0 and Scranton 3-0. The three wins, make it seven straight for the Garnet while surpassed the 20 win mark for the first time in regular season play. SWARTHMORE, Pa. - For the second time in a week, the Swarthmore volleyball team (13-5, 1-2 CC) fell in a tough fifth set tiebreaker to a Centennial rival; this time is was to the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (12-4, 3-0 CC). York, Pa. - Senior Genny Pezzola sits alone atop of the Swarthmore record book for career kills, passing Jennifer Wang's '08 previous record of 1,171 kills in the first set of the Garnet's victory over Centenary on Friday evening, leading Swat (11-3, 1-0) to a 1-1 day on the first day of the York Spartan Invitational. Pezzola led Swarthmore to a 1-1 day, taking down Centenary 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) in its first match of the day. The Garnet then fell to the host York Spartans 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-8).

Santana, Shang Reach 1,000 Career Digs as Volleyball Roars Past the Bears, 3-1
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In the 60-year history of the Swarthmore College volleyball program, only four individuals have recorded 1,000 career digs. On Tuesday night from Tarble Pavilion against Ursinus (7-5, 0-2 CC), two seniors reached the feat in the same match. Seniors Hillary Santana (30 digs) Lisa Shang (12 digs) each reached the 1,000 dig plataeu as the Garnet (10-2, 1-0 CC) routed the Bears 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 20-25, 25-8) in the Garnet's Centennial Conference opener.

The Swarthmore volleyball team (9-2) went into Saturday riding a six-game win streak and finished off the day with a win and a loss in the inugural Centennial vs. CAC Challenge on Saturday afternoon. Volleyball Sweeps Competition On Opening Day
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (2-0) routed both Alvernia and Centenary, 3-0, to open up its 2011 Fall season at the Moravian Greyhound Classic. The Garnet took down Alvernia in straight sets in to open up the tournament, 25-11, 25-15 and 25-12. Swat made quick work of Centenary in its second match, taking down the Cyclones 3-0 as well, 25-10, 25-20 and 25-20.

2011 Volleyball Season Preview; Garnet Picked Third in Centennial Preseason Poll
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – In the past two seasons, the Swarthmore College volleyball team erupted from six wins in 2008 to 20 in 2010, climbing to the top of the Centennial Conference on the backs of a trio of the 2012 class. The Garnet shocked the Conference again with a come-from-behind upset of four-time defending champion Haverford in the Centennial semifinals. Still riding a wave of momentum from their first ever berth in the Centennial finals and returning every player except Sarah Lambert ’11, Swarthmore will look to bring a championship trophy to Tarble Pavilion in 2011. The core puts the Garnet in a strong position to compete at the top of the Centennial Conference once again.

Lancaster, Pa. - Six Swarthmore student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Fall All-Centennial Sportsmanship Team, the Conference announced on Wednesday morning. The Centennial Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) established the All-Sportsmanship team in 2007. Each team elected a member from their squad who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season to be selected to the All-Centennial sportsmanship team.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior captain Sarah Lambert won tournament MVP with 14 aces and 45 assists, as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (8-1) defeated Wesley 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-18) and Cabrini 3-2 (23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-9) to win its second consecutive Garnet Classic on Saturday afternoon from Tarble Pavilion. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a tough 3-2 loss to Richard Stockton (3-1) to open championship bracket play Saturday morning, the Swarthmore Volleyball team (3-1) rebounded to take down host Moravian (3-1) in a four set battle. The 3-1 victory earned the Garnet its second Greyhound Premiere championship. LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team had two student-athletes named to the All-Centennial team - sophomore Genny Pezzola and freshman Kat Montemurro - while head coach Harleigh Chwastyk was named the Coach of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. Pezzola was named to the first team - marking the first time in program history that a member of the Swarthmore College volleyball team has received first-team honors - while Montemurro earned second-team honors. This is Chwastyk's first Coach of the Year honor in her eight-year coaching career at Swarthmore.
