Coleman & Montemurro Earn Centennial First Team Accolades
LANCASTER, Pa. - Two members of the Swarthmore College women's volleyball team - seniors Kat Montemurro and Allie Coleman - have named been named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.
The two first-team selections equals a program best. Both Montemurro and Coleman are first time All-Centennial selections.
Montemurro (Bogota, N.J. / Bergen County Academics), a 2011 and 2012 team captain, was named to the Centennial Conference Second Team in both 2009 and 2010. Averaging 3.16 kills/set her senior season, Montemurro reached the 1,000 kill mark during a 3-0 victory at Muhlenberg. She has proven to be a tenacious offender, as she currently is in fourth place at Swarthmore for career kills (1051) and fifth place for career kills/set (2.74).
Coleman (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto), also a 2011 and 2012 team captain, is named to the All-Centennial Conference conference for the second straight year, however this year, she has moved up from second team to first team. Averaging 8.07 assists/set her senior season, Coleman surpassed the program's career assist record, previously 3,199 as set by Emily Conlon (2002-05), and set a new record at 3,210 assists and counting.
Swarthmore (No. 3 seed) hosts Delaware Valley College (No. 6 seed) in the first round of the ECAC South Region Championship Tournament on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The game will not be webcast, but can be followed via livestats.
