Volleyball Rolls Past Rowan, 3-0

GLASSBORO, N.J. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (16-6, 3-3 CC) continued its road dominance on Thursday night, dropping the Rowan University Profs (10-12) in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-16), for the second match in a row.

The win marked Swats 12th shutout victory of the season.

Junior Kat Montemurro led the way for Swarthmore, dropping 11 kills with only 18 attempts to boast a big .500 hitting percentage.

Having another good game up front in her rookie campaign was freshman Zahra Ahmed who put up six kills. Senior Genny Pezzola and sophomore Maggie Duszyk combined for 10 kills in the match with five apiece.

Junior Allison Coleman set the tone again for the Garnet offense, posting 36 assists, almost doubling the Profs' 21.

Swarthmore's defense was unbreakable, holding Rowan to less than 20 points in each set and picking up 54 digs.

It was Pezzola that led the way in the back with 14 kills but senior Hillary Santana continued her double-digit digs streak going with 11.

The Garnet return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, October 15 when it hosts McDaniel for the annual Dig for the Cure game. Play is slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
