Women's Track & Field Excels at Seamus McElligott Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's track and field were back in action Saturday afternoon at the Seamus McElligott Invitational.

Swarthmore collected strong performances - racking up eight individual and two relay top-10 finishes on the day.

On the track, freshman Katie Lin (1:03.50) and sophomore Julia Nee (1:03.79) finished fifth and sixth in the 400-meter run, while Amy Amuquandoh finished at 1:05.57 for 13th overall. Katie McMenamin competed in the 800-meter run, clocking 2:19.40 to take fourth place.

Senior Becky Painter paced the 5000-meter in 18:16.77 for fifth place overall, while senior Rebecca Hammond added another top-10 program mark, finishing the mile in 5:07.40 to take second.

The 4x400-meter relay A-squad clocked in at 4:15.25 (4th) and the 4x200-meter relay finished at 1:57.05.

In the field events, freshman Shaina Lu took fifth place after soaring an even eight feet with the pole vault. Sophomore Osazenoriuwa Ebose launched the shot put 34 feet and 10.50 inches to take fourth place overall and Lin tallied a 15 foot and seven inch long jump for the sixth-best mark.

The Garnet have just two meets remaining before the Centennial Conference championships – next up is the two-day Valentine Invitational held at Boston University next weekend.
