Rebecca Hammond '13 Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
NEW ORLEANS – For the second-consecutive year, Rebecca Hammond '13 of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team has been named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Track & Field team, the organization announced recently.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
Hammond is one of 10 Centennial Conference athletes to make the All-Academic Track & Field team.
The rising senior from Winters, Calif., is coming off a stellar junior season on the track and in the classroom. She qualified for the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800 meter run and was the 2012 Centennial Conference outdoor silver medalist and the 2012 Centennial Conference indoor bronze medalist in the same event. In May, she broke her own school record in the 800 meter run (2:12.56) at the 2012 Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. A biology and economics major, Hammond was named to the Capital One/CoSida Academic All-District IV Women's Track & Field First Team, the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team and the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2012.
