Four Garnet Compete in TCNJ Last Chance Meet
EWING, N.J. - Senior Kenyetta Givans captured first place in the 100 meter hurdles while junior Rebecca Hammond and senior Jen Johnson each ran personal bests in the 1,500 meter run to lead the Swarthmore College track & field teams at the TCNJ Last Chance Meet on Thursday evening.
Givans clocked in with a time of 14.71 to easily top her lone competitor from TCNJ.
Hammond and Johnson finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 1,500. Hammond crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 4:39.67, which ranks second all-time in school history. Johnson also clocked a personal best time of 4:45.97, which ranks seventh all-time.
On the men's side, senior Daniel Ly finished fifth in the triple jump, reaching 44-01.25.
Swarthmore athletes will now await word from the NCAA Division III selection committee about possible selection in the 2012 NCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships. The championships will be held from Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26 in Claremont, California on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
