Hammond Sets 800 Meter Run Record to Lead Women's Track & Field at NYU Invitational
NEW YORK - For the second time in as many days, a member of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team set a new program record.
Junior Rebecca Hammond set the school indoor record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.00 to highlight the Garnet's performance at the NYU Division III Invitational on Saturday night. Hammond finished fourth overall in the event and first among Division III competitors.
Also finishing first among Division III competition in her field was senior Kenyetta Givans. She finished the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.21.
In the 1 mile run, senior Melissa Frick finished in a time of 5:16.34 for ninth place overall. She was followed closely by fellow senior Hannah Rose (5:22.56).
In the 200 meter dash, senior Ogechi Irondi finished ninth overall with a time of 27.51.
The Garnet return to action on Saturday, February 25, with the Centennial Conference Championships from Ursinus College
