Title Hopes Dashed as Top Seed Johns Hopkins Sweeps Women's Tennis, 5-0
BALTIMORE - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team's quest for a Centennial Conference Championship ended on Sunday afternoon, as No. 1 seed Johns Hopkins blanked the No. 3 seed Garnet (10-6) 5-0 from the campus of Johns Hopkins.
The Blue Jays swept the doubles matches and earned the two points they needed in singles to finish the win. At number one doubles, Hogan/Krishnan defeated sophomore Lia Carlson and junior Emily Rosenblum, 8-2. At number two doubles, juniors Stephanie Chia and Kelsey Johnson fell to Clark/Herndon, 8-1, and at number three, sophomores Baik/Rettig defeated Katie Samuelson and Brooke Wilkins, 8-3.
Johns Hopkins then claimed singles victories at numbers two and four to complete the match. It was the sixth straight Centennial Conference title for Johns Hopkins.
