Women's Tennis Completes Home Campaign With 8-1 Win Over Bryn Mawr
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (9-4, 8-1 CC) earned an 8-1 win over Bryn Mawr in its last home match of the regular season. The team opened with a sweep of the doubles matches and continued the dominant play into singles.
At number one doubles, junior Emily Rosenblum and sophomore Lia Carlson picked up an 8-3 win against Perrocchi/Perrocchi. At number two, junior Stephanie Chia paired up with junior Kelsey Johnson to earn an 8-4 win over Chen/Vogel. Sophomores Brooke Wilkins and Katie Samuelson defeated Odenwalder/Austin by a score of 8-3.
In singles play, Carlson did not drop a game against Perrocchi at number one singles. Rosenblum earned a three-set victory at number two against Chen, winning 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (4).
At numbers three, four, and five singles, Johnson, Samuelson, and Chia each dropped only one game in defeating their opponents. Johnson won 6-0, 6-1 against Perrocchi, Samuelson defeated Vogel 6-1, 6-0, and Chia dominated Austin 6-1, 6-0.
Bryn Mawr claimed a point at number six singles with Odenwalder defeating freshman Gayatri Iyengar 6-1, 6-3.
The team will complete its regular season tomorrow in Baltimore against defending conference champion Johns Hopkins at 1:00.
