Women's Swimming Drops First Conference Meet to Gettysburg, 166-96
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - In the second-to-last meet of the season, the Swarthmore College women's swim team's undefeated streak in Centennial Conference competition came to an end, as the Garnet fell 166-96 at the hands of the Gettysburg Bullets on Saturday.
Despite the loss, the Garnet managed to pick up four individual wins, as sophomores Kate Wiseman and Supriya Davis both finished first in a pair of events. Wiseman maintained her season-long undefeated streak in the sprint freestyle events, taking the 50 by a mere 4-100ths of a second in 25.21, and outtouching second-place finisher Davis by a tenth of a second in the 100, 54.98 to 55.08. Wiseman also finished a close second in the 200 IM (2:16.56). Davis, in addition to her 100 free finish, took first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.95) and the 100 butterfly (58.65). The 100 fly time was Davis' fastest of the season, and the fastest in the Centennial Conference this year.
Swarthmore also picked up a relay win to lead off the meet, as Davis and Wiseman teamed up with freshman Nikkia Miller and junior Erin Lowe to win the 200 medley relay in 1:52.14.
The Garnet finishes the dual meet season at home next Saturday against Dickinson. Action is set to begin at 1 pm.
