Gettysburg Defeats Women's Swimming, 142-63
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Gettysburg Bullets proved too much for the Swarthmore women's swim team (4-3, 3-2) to handle on Saturday, as the Garnet squad fell by a decisive 142-63 score at Gettysburg's Bullets Pool.
The loss was not without its merits, as freshman Erin Lowe recorded two wins on the day. Lowe, one of the Garnet's top swimmers and an athlete who promises to be one to watch at the upcoming Conference championships, beat strong fields in the 200 freestyle (1:59.99) and 200 butterfly (2:14.64). Her freestyle time, the first Swarthmore sub-2:00 of the year, was the second-fastest Garnet swim in the past two seasons.
Freshman Rebecca Teng also contributed several strong swims, placing second in the 200 IM (2:19.98) and third in the 200 backstroke (2:19.93)
The Garnet will swim their final dual meet of the year on February 5, as they take on Conference rival Dickinson at home. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
