Women's Swimming Clubs Cabrini, 139-94

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Stepping out of Centennial Conference action, the Swarthmore College women's swim team improved to 4-2 on the season as it  cruised past  Cabrini  by a 139-94 score at Ware Pool on Saturday.

Eight different swimmers recorded wins on the day, and the Garnet recorded the top time in every individual event and in 13 of 14 events overall.  Freshman Erin Lowe, freshman Margaret Regan, senior Allison Bishop, and junior Naomi Glassman each notched multiple victories.

The women began the meet by sweeping the top three spots in the 200 medley relay, as the "A" team of sophomore Rosalie Lawrence, Regan, sophomore Hannah Gotwals, and Lowe touched first in 2:01.70.  The first of Bishop's wins came in the subsequent 1000 freestyle (11:42.82); her second, in the 500 freestyle (5:43.21), paced a sweep rounded out by senior Chelsea Brett (5:45.18) and junior Jacqueline Scala (5:56.36).
 
Lowe continued her impressive rookie season, taking first in the 100 freestyle (57.96) and the 2000 (2:05.08).  Her victory in the 200 led a four-place sweep for the Garnet, as she was followed by Brett (2:07.07), senior Sarah Bedolfe (2:09.86), and sophomore Michael-Anne Myrvang (2:10.62).  Similarly, fellow freshman Regan took the top time in the 200 backstroke (2:34.39) and the 400 IM (5:01.31); her 400 time led a four-spot finish with Bedolfe (5:19.45), Myrvang (5:19.83), and sophomore Alice Wong (5:19.84).
 
Glassman's wins came in the 100 backstroke (1:08.70) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.83).   Other individual victories for the Garnet were recorded by Lawrence in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.05), where she was closely followed by Regan (1:14.12) and senior Stephanie Su (1:14.85); Gotwals in the 200 butterfly (2:19.36); Brett in the 50 freestyle (26.57); and Su in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.57).  The meet was won for Swarthmore by the tenth event.
The Garnet women get back into conference action on Saturday as they face Washington at Ware Pool.  The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
