Colombo, Luongo Named to NSCAA All-Region Teams
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Junior Megan Colombo and senior Julia Luongo of the Swarthmore College women's soccer team have both been named NSCAA All Mid-Atlantic Region Selections, the organization announced on Monday. Colombo is a second-team selection while Luongo appears on the third team.
Colombo (Arcadia, Calif./Arcadia), a forward, makes the team for the second time; she was also a second-team selection in 2008. Colombo was also voted to the first-team All-Centennial team by the Conference's head coaches. Colombo anchored the 2009 Garnet offense with a team leading six goals and 15 points and now currently ranks second in program history for career goals.
Luongo (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon), a midfielder, makes the team for the first time. Luongo was also named to the All-Centennial first team and ECAC South Region second team. Luongo made the most of her senior season and played an important role in the Garnet's 16-4-1 record netting five goals and playing in every game this season.
With Colombo and Luongo making the team, Swarthmore has now had eight players selected to the NSCAA team in the past four years.
