Muhlenberg Tramples Women's Basketball, 81-46
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Nineteen-point performances from Muhlenberg's Alexandra Chili and Alita Zabrecky (15-4, 10-4) was enough to help the Mules overwhelm the Swarthmore College women's basketball team (8-11, 6-9) by a score of 81-46 on Wednesday evening in Memorial Hall.
Junior Madeline Ross led the Garnet with 17 points off the bench. Sophomore Katie Lytle led the team with a double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) and freshman Elle Larsen contributed 10 points and four rebounds. Senior Genny Pezzola added six points and five rebounds.
From the onset of the game, the Garnet was plagued by bad shooting and allowed the Mules to pull ahead by a score of 28-10 just 10 minutes into the contest. Turnovers also hindered the Garnet, and by the end of the half the Mules led 42-17.
Despite going a low 37.5% from the field, Muhlenberg continued their dominance in the second half of the game. The Garnet significantly improved their shooting percentage, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. The Mules had many unanswered points and ended the game with almost a 40-point lead (81-46).
The Garnet look to bounce back when they take on Centennial Conference opponent Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon at the College. Action is slated for 1:00 p.m.
