Smayda Named First Team All-Centennial

LANCASTER, Pa. - Junior Kate Smayda of the Swarthmore College softball team has been named to the All-Centennial softball first team, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

This is Smayda'a second consecutive appearance on the All-Centennial team, having made the second team in 2011.

Smayda (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) is coming off one of the best single seasons in program history. The centerfielder finished the season with 64 hits, which is a program single-season record and ranks second in Centennial history for a single season. Smayda also belted three home runs, 13 doubles and finished the season hitting .421 with a .579 slugging percentage. Some of Smayda's standout performances from the 2012 season include a four-hit game against Widener, recording three-plus hits in four-consecutive games on the Spring Break trip to South Carolina and providing the game-winning extra-inning hit in a win over Arcadia.
