Men's Cross Country Earns Third Place at Centennial Championship Meet; Phillips Finishes 10th
NEWVILLE, Pa. - Members of the Swarthmore College men's cross country team battled through wind, snow, and cold to earn third place at the Centennial Conference Championship Meet hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School on Saturday morning. Leading the way for the Garnet was junior Jacob Phillips, who finished 10th overall with a time of 27:34.9. Phillips’ finish is Swarthmore’s best individual finish since Lang Reynolds won the race in 2003.

Cross Country Teams Prep for Centennials at Haverford Invitational
HAVERFORD, Pa. - Freshmen Jorin Schug (59th/22:26.00) and Erick White (60th/22:28.00) finished neck-and-neck as the top runners for the Swarthmore College men’s cross country team at the Haverford Invitational. Senior Henry Ainley was the next Swarthmore runner to complete the 4-mile course in 76th with a time of 23:15.00.

Cross Country Teams Hold Annual Alumni Meet
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Three juniors led the Swarthmore men's cross country team to victory over the alumni for the third year in a row on Saturday afternoon from the Crum Woods. The men won 17-46, as Aidan Dumont-McCaffrey, John McMinn, and Jacob Phillips all crossed the finish line with identical times of 13:12. The fastest alum, Ross Weller ’08, finished just one second behind.

Six Swarthmore Student-Athletes Named to Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team
Lancaster, Pa. - Six Swarthmore student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Fall All-Centennial Sportsmanship Team, the Conference announced on Wednesday morning. The Centennial Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) established the All-Sportsmanship team in 2007. Each team elected a member from their squad who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season to be selected to the All-Centennial sportsmanship team.

Men's Cross Country Earns 17th-Place Finish at NCAA Mideast Regional
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa - Paced by the class of 2013, the Swarthmore Garnet men’s cross country team finished 17th in the field of 50 at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday from Slippery Rock, Pa. Sophomore John McMinn was the Garnet’s first overall finisher in the 8K race, in a time of 26:47.3, good for 62nd place. Sophomore Jacob Phillips was right behind, crossing the line 76th place (27:08.4) in the field of 316 runners. Sophomore Aidan Dumont-McCaffrey (27:34.1/102), junior Chris Wickham (27:52.7/124) and sophomore Bill King (28:07.5/140) rounded out the Garnet’s top 5.

DuMont-McCaffrey Leads Garnet Men to Third-Place Finish in Main Line Invitational
HAVERFORD, Pa. - Sophomore Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey clocked in at 21:09.30 to lead the Garnet to a third place finish in the Main Line Invitational on Thursday afternoon. DuMont-McCaffrey's time earned him 28th place in a field that included Division I Villanova runners.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – For the second year in a row, the Swarthmore men’s cross country team triumphed over the alumni – by a score of 15 to 48 – at the annual Swarthmore Alumni Race, now in its 36th year. Sophomores John McMinn, Jacob Phillips, Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey, and Bill King all finished within seven seconds to each other to lay waste to the field at Saturday’s race, held on the College campus.

LANCASTER, Pa.—Six Swarthmore student-athletes were named to the fall All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team today. The Centennial's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee created the team to emphasize sportsmanship within the Conference. All institutions elected one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-Centennial team.

Frick Earns All-Region Honors, Freshmen Pace Garnet Men at NCAA Cross Country Mideast Regional Meet
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore Melissa Frick made an impressive return to competition for the Garnet women, pacing Swarthmore with a 23:09 run, good enough for 35th place and All-Region honors, leading the Garnet women's to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regionals. On the men's side, freshmen John McMinn, Jacob Phillips and Brian King led the pace for the Swarthmore men’s cross country team in the NCAA Mideast Regional meet; all finishing in under 27 minutes. The Garnet men finished 14th.

30 Swarthmore Student-Athletes Named to Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Thirty Swarthmore College student-athletes have been named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2009 fall season. The honor roll recognizes athletes' performance both on the field and in the classroom. To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, a starter or key reserve on his or her team or have qualified for the Conference championship meet. The student must maintain at least a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average.

McMinn Paces Cross Country Men at Centennial Championship

Swat Harriers Take To Path At Dickinson Long-Short Meet
Carlisle, Pa. - The Swarthmore men's cross country team opened up the 2009 season with a fourth-place finish in the long run of the Dickinson Long-Short Run on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet finished with a total of 52 points in the long race, trailing only conference rivals Dickinson (1st, 8) and Gettysburg (3rd, 50), as well as Carnegie Mellon (2nd, 15) in the 24-team field.
