Cross Country Teams Ranked in the USTFCCCA Mideast Region Polls

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Swarthmore College men's and women's cross country teams moved up in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week three regional rankings for the 2012 Division III season as announced Tuesday morning.  

The women's team entered the poll for the first time this season tied with Grove City at No. 9, while the men's team, in its third week on the polls, moved up one spot to the No. 7 spot.

Both teams will compete in the Dickinson Long/Short Run this coming Saturday on the Big Spring High School course. In 2011, Jacob Phillips finished first on this course in the long run (8k) with a time of 26:37 to pace a field of 184 runners. The Garnet men's team went on to finish third overall. Emma Saarel is the top returning runner of the long course women's race one year ago and has been a top-five finisher for the Garnet in each race this season. The Garnet women's team finished seventh overall last year in the long course race.
