Cross Country Hosts Annual Alumni Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College cross country teams hosted the annual alumni meet in Crum Woods Saturday afternoon.

The men's varsity team prevailed for the fourth straight season over the alumni by a score of 18-41. Leading the pack was senior runner Jacob Phillips paced the other 58 contenders with a time of 17:25. The first alum to cross the finish line was Garret Ash '05 clocking in at 18:02 for fifth place overall. Juniors Dan Kalamarides and Stuart Russell second and third, respectively, with times of 17:34 and 17:46, while freshman Dominic Castro-Wehl clocked in at 17:58 for fourth place.

On the women's side, the varsity runners collected 17 points defeating the alum team that scored 48. Emma Saarel and Rebecca Hammond finished one second a part (21:01, 21:02) as the first and second place female finishers, respectively. Freshman Jenna Kody finished not far behind at 21:16 and Hannah Rose '12, the top alum, clocked in at 21:30. Katie McMenamin rounded out the top five finishing in 21:46.
