Ly Leads Men's Track & Field on Final Day of Centennial Conference Championships
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Daniel Ly earned a medal for the third consecutive Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships, taking home a silver medal in the triple jump to lead the Swarthmore College men's track & field team on the final day of the Centennial Conference Championships from Ursinus College.
Ly reached 44-03.25, just missing gold with the fourth-best jump in program history. The senior has previously medaled in the high jump (2010) and long jump (2011).
As a team, the Garnet finished in ninth place with 29 points.
While Ly proved to be the squad's only medal winner, several other members of the team put up strong efforts on the final day of the finals.
Freshman Jason Heo finished sixth in both the 110 hurdles (16.75) and 400 meter hurdles (58.07). Both times were personal bests and place him on the school's all-time Top 10 list.
Fellow freshman Jonas Oppenheimer (pictured) finished eighth overall in the 1,500 run with a time of 3:58.86, which was a personal best and ranks seventh in program history.
Junior Matthew Heck took eighth in the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 52.08.
Finally in the relays, the 4x100 team of freshman Tim Vaughan-Ogunlusi, Heck, Ly and Heo finished sixth with a time of 44.04.
