Men's Track & Field Tunes Up for Centennials With Solid Showing at Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. - With under two weeks to go until the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore College men's track and field team prepared with a solid performance at the two-day Widener Invitational over the weekend.

Senior Daniel Ly led the Garnet contingent on the track and in the field. Ly was Swarthmore's top finisher in both the 200 meter dash (23.91) and the long jump (20-01.75).

In the 800 meter run, freshman Jonas Oppenheimer continued his excellent freshman spring campaign by finishing 15th (1:58.90). He was followed by fellow freshman Erick White (2:00.49) and senior Henry Ainley (2:01.87).

First-year Jason Heo finished 11th in a field of 21 and bested all Centennial competitors in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.56).

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, senior Chris Wickham (pictured) placed 15th with a time of 10:27.68.

Swarthmore returns to action with the Haverford Mid-Week and historic Penn Relays during the upcoming week.
