NEW YORK - In its final meet before the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore College men's indoor track & field team saw four individuals meet Centennial qualifying standards to highlight the Garnet's performance at the NYU Team Challenge over the weekend.
In the team competition, the Garnet finished in ninth place with 18 points. Half of those 18 points came from junior Daniel Ly, who took third place in the triple jump (42-4) and sixth in the long jump (19-1).
The four Swarthmore individuals to reach Centennial standards were senior Patrick Hartnett in the mile (4:38.52), sophomore Matthew Heck in the 400 meter (52.46), and junior Chris Wickham (9:02.25) and freshman Stuart Russell (9:09.99) in the 3,000 meter run.
Several other members of the Garnet reached season-best times in the Big Apple.
Senior Chris Mayer-Bacon posted a season-best 9.21 in the 60 meter dash, freshman Jake Weiner clocked a season-best 2:06.68 in the 800 meter and sophomore Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey ran a season-best 8:57.91 in the 3,000 meter run.
Swarthmore will compete in the Centennial Conference Championships from Haverford College on Saturday.
