Mike Mullan -- one of the winningest coaches in college tennis -- is in his 35th season at Swarthmore as head men's tennis coach. Mullan is on sabbatical during the Spring of 2012.

The 1986 NCAA Division III Coach of the Year, Mullan has led the Garnet to 27 appearances at the NCAA Division III National Championships, including three national titles (1981, '85, '90).

Mullan, a two-time Pennsylvania high school singles champion, played #2 singles and #1 doubles at the University of California at Berkeley before playing international tennis. The highlight of his playing days was earning a spot in the U.S. Open. A noted clinician, he has conducted tennis teaching programs in Belgium, Burma, Nepal, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. In his 32 seasons of coaching, Mullan has coached 52 Division III All-Americans.

Coach Mullan holds Ph.Ds in sociology and history, with the latter coming from Temple University in 2010. He also teaches in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Swarthmore.
