Men's Tennis Drops Close Contest to Franklin & Marshall, 5-4

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore men's tennis team (9-8, 3-2 CC) failed to avenge its first round Centennial Conference playoff defeat from a season ago as the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats (5-6, 4-1 CC) edged the Garnet 5-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Swarthmore fell behind early in doubles action, winning only in the No. 3 doubles match with sophomores Anthony Collard and Preston Poon winning 8-2.

The Garnet continued to struggle in the No. 1 and 2 singles matches before senior Max Bressman earned the first singles win of the day with a 7-5, 7-5 win over F&M's William MacArthur.

Poon and sophomore Daniel Park closed out the match with a pair of wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, but it wasn't enough as the Diplomats had already sealed the victory with its win at No. 4 singles.

Poon won 6-1, 6-2 over Cameron Relic and Park came away with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Eric Rouff.

Swarthmore will try to bounce back to its winning ways on Wednesday, April 11 when it travels to the battlefield to take on the Gettysburg Bullets.  Play is slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
