Streaking Men's Tennis Downs Washington College 7-2

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The depth of the Swarthmore College men's tennis team (11-6, 7-1) came through once again as the surging Garnet took No. 2 through No. 6 singles to defeat visiting Washington College 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon from the Faulkner Courts.

The victory is Swat's seventh-consecutive win and sixth straight against Centennial competition. With the win, the Garnet - ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South Region of the latest ITA rankings - secured a first-round bye for the upcoming Centennial Conference Championships and guaranteed itself with no worse than the No. 3 seed. The Garnet will battle rival Haverford on Saturday (12:00) for the chance to lock up the No. 2 seed.

Junior Max Bressman and junior Zak Kelm were both double winners on the day to lead Swat to the crucial Conference win. Bressman defeated Washington's Kyle Lisco 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while teaming up with freshman Max Kaye to win at No. 1 doubles 8-5. Kelm won at No. 2 singles over Kevin Papen 6-0, 6-4 and at No. 3 doubles with Christian Carcione  8-2. Also picking up wins for the Garnet in singles play were freshman Preston Poon (No. 4), freshman Anthony Collard (No. 5) and sophomore Malik Mubeen (No. 6).

The Garnet will look to lock up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference playoffs when it travels to Haverford on Saturday. Play is set to begin at 12:00.
