Kaye Strong, But Men's Tennis Falls at No. 25 Mary Washington 7-2

Fredericksburg, Va. - Freshman Max Kaye was a double-winner, winning at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-2 and teaming up with senior Max Bressman to win at No 2 doubles (8-5), but it wasn't enough to help the Swarthmore College men's tennis team (2-4) overtake No. 25 Mary Washington, as the Eagles prevailed 7-2 over the Garnet on Saturday.

The Garnet fought hard in the loss to the nationally-ranked Eagles and the match could have easily swung in the Swat's favor if not for tiebreak losses at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles, as well as a three-set loss at No. 5 singles by freshman Preston Poon.

Kaye finished the day as a double winner and is now 5-4 in singles play for the 2010-11 season, winning three straight. Bressman almost joined him as a double-winner, but lost a grueling 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-8 decision at the hands of UMW's Riley Baver.

As a doubles team, Kaye and Bressman are 4-2 for the season.
