Four Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Winter Academic All-Area Teams
PHILADELPHIA - Four Swarthmore College student-athletes - Kathryn Stockbower '11 of the women's basketball team, Travis Pollen '12 and Daniel Duncan '13 of the men's swimming team and Sarah Bedolfe '11 of the women's swimming team - have been selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams for their respective winter sports, the paper announced on Tuesday.

Pollen Finishes Third in 50 and 100 Yard Freestyles at 2011 US Paralympic Swimming Nationals
MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Travis Pollen of the Swarthmore College men's swimming team finished in third place in both the 50 and 100 meter freestyles for his paralympic class (S9) at the 2011 US Paralympic Spring National Championships from the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center over the weekend.

Travis Pollen Breaks Own S9 Paralympic American Record in 100-Yard Freestyle
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Just two days after breaking the American record in the 50-yard freestyle for his paralympic class (S9), Swarthmore College junior Travis Pollen was at it again, breaking his own American record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.73 on Sunday afternoon during the final day of the Centennial Conference Championships from Gettysburg College.

Men's Swimming Finishes Third at Centennial Conference Championships
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - As the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships at Gettsyburg came to an end on Sunday night, the Swarthmore Garnet men’s swim team saw its 2010-2011 season culminate in a third-place finish. Swarthmore began the day 38.5 points behind second-place Franklin & Marshall, and, though they stood firm, couldn’t make up the deficit, finishing 36 points back of second (663-627). The Gettysburg Bullets took the title in their home pool with 736.5 points.

Bullard-Sisken Breaks Record, Men's Swimming Earns Four Medals on Second Day of Centennials
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Despite a slip in the standings from second to third place, the Swarthmore Garnet men’s swimming team continued to swim fast on the second day of the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships at Gettysburg. Led by medal-winning performances by junior Samuel Bullard-Sisken, sophomore Daniel Duncan, and freshman John Flaherty, the Garnet are still poised for a successful meet, only trailing second-place Franklin & Marshall by 38.5 points.
