Three Named to Capital One/CoSida Academic All-District IV Men's Soccer First Team
Towson, Md.- Juniors Peter Maxted and Jake Weiner and sophomore Michael Superdock of the Swarthmore College men's soccer team have been named to the Capital One/CoSida Academic All-District IV Men's Soccer First Team, the organization announced on Thursday evening.
Maxted (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul Schreiber) has been phenomenal in net for the Garnet, posting a conference-best .865 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average (GAA). His seven goals surrendered are also tied for best in the Centennial. In 14 games this season, Maxted has made 45 saves and recorded three clean sheets.
Weiner (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School) has started on the backline in all 16 games this season for the Garnet and is second on the team with five assists, which is also fifth most in the Centennial Conference.
Superdock (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor), who has started in 13 games as a defender, brings consistency and energy to the top defense in the Centennial. The Garnet's ten goals allowed and 0.61 GAA are currently best in the conference.
All three players are now eligible to be named to the Capital One/CoSida Academic All-American Team, which will be announced in mid-November.
The top-seeded Garnet will host the Centennial Conference Championship Tournament this weekend, opening play at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday against fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins.
