Six Swarthmore Student-Athletes Named to Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team
Lancaster, Pa. - Six Swarthmore student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Fall All-Centennial Sportsmanship Team, the Conference announced on Wednesday morning.
The Centennial Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) established the All-Sportsmanship team in 2007. Each team elected a member from their squad who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season to be selected to the All-Centennial sportsmanship team.
Men's Cross Country
Chris Wickham '12
Wickham finished in the top half at the 2010 NCAA Regionals, and took 46th overall at the Centennial Conference Championships, helping the Garnet to a 4th-place team finish.
Women's Cross Country
Ali Farnos-Wilker '11
As a senior team leader, Farnos-Wilker helped the Garnet women to a 4th-place Conference finish and a 7th-place overall showing at NCAA Regionals.
Field Hockey
Nia Jones '14
In her first collegiate season, the forward tied for second on the squad in both goals and points.
Men's Soccer
Gage Newman '11
Newman was a member of the 2010 All-Conference Second Team, and received an Honorable Mention in 2009. The defender is also a two-time Conference Academic Honor Roll honoree. He finishes his Swarthmore career as one of the winningest players in team history.
Women's Soccer
Kirsten Peterson '11
Peterson, a consistent four-year player, holds Swarthmore's all-time career assists record and ranks in the Top 10 for all-time goals. The midfielder was also named to the 2010 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Volleyball
Sarah Lambert '11
The senior captain and SAAC co-chair was named Most Valuable Player of September's Garnet Classic and was one of the team leaders in service aces.
