Pat Gress is entering his 18th season as head coach at Swarthmore. A 1991 graduate of Towson University, Gress has guided the rebuilding of the men's lacrosse team to a nationally-competitive level, with three teams (2000, '03, '08) selected to compete in the ECAC Tournament.  The 2008 squad was a perfect 7-0 in non-conference action and earned the right to host the ECAC Championship at Clothier Field.

At Towson, Gress was a history and secondary education major, four-year varsity letter winner, and recipient of the James Saxon Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership. Upon graduation, he assisted North Harford High School in Harford County, MD, from 1991 to 1993. From there, Gress assisted Franklin & Marshall College for two years, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament in 1995.

Gress received a master's degree in administration from West Chester University in 2000. He also teaches physical education classes at Swarthmore.

Gress has chaired the Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse Committee (’05-’11), served on the All American Committee (’05-08) and coached the 2003 North-South Senior All Star Game. Currently, he serves on the Regional Advisory Committee for NCAA Tournament Selection.

Eric Hoffman is entering his third year as the department's strength and conditioning intern, as well as his third season as assistant men's lacrosse coach.

Hoffman is the Garnet's designated defensive coach for the lacrosse squad. He graduated from Ursinus College in 2008 and led the men's lacrosse team in ground balls and take aways during his junior and senior years while earning All-Centennial honors.

 

Currently a member of the Philadelphia Wings of the NLL, Hoffman also played for the Philadelphia Barrage of the MLL in 2008. He is currently obtaining a master's degree in adminstration and sport management at West Chester.
