Men's Lacrosse Falls to McDaniel on Senior Day, 10-4

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Senior Zach Belden opened up senior day with goal less than two minutes into play but McDaniel proved too much for the Swarthmore men's lacrosse team (5-10, 2-6 CC) in the second half as the Green Terror (9-6, 5-3 CC)earned its spot in the Conference playoffs with the 10-4 win.

Along with Belden, senior Max Hubbard scored in his last game with Swarthmore, capping off Swat's scoring with its fourth goal of the game. Belden finished the season with 12 goals and Hubbard with 16.

Seniors John Bukawyn and Matt Bowers picked up two ground balls apiece in their final outing while senior keeper Michael Brockway had eight saves for the Garnet.

Swarthmore held onto its 1-0 lead for most of the first quarter before McDaniel got itself on the board with only :41 seconds left in the quarter.

The Green Terror kept the momentum to start the second quarter with an early goal to take the lead but Swarthmore freshman Ian Lukaszewicz answered less than a minute later to knot it up at three.  Freshman Andrew Preiser assisted the goal.

Junior Steve Selverian broke the tied a few minutes later with his 11th goal of the season off of a nice feed from sophomore Daniel Kowalyshyn.

After Selverian's goal, the Green Terror shut down the Garnet offense and went on a tear, scoring eight of the final nine goals of the game.  Hubbard scored Swarthmore's lone goal of the second half.

Swarthmore finished ahead of Muhlenberg in the Centennial Conference standings and tied with Ursinus.  Despite its 2-6 Conference record, the Garnet fell only two games short of a playoff berth.
