Golf Opens Fall Season With Penn State Harrisburg Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore golf team opened its fall season over the weekend with a 14th place finish at the Penn State Harrisburg Fall Classic. The team posted a two-day total of 649 at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course; 319 on Friday and 330 on  Saturday's second round.

Senior Kyle Krainock led the way for the Garnet, firing a 79 on both days for a total of 158. Junior Price Ferchill shot a 75 in round one and 86 in round two, turning in a 161. The team was rounded out by sophomore Andrew Park with a 163,  sophomore Miles Schuck with a 167, and freshman Jason Jolliffe with a 178.

Franklin and Marshall won the event with a team score of 590. The All-Tournament team consisted of Avery Jones of Albright College, Evan Clarke of Elmira College, Kevin Long of York College, Austin Galaska of of Messiah College, and the overall winner from Messiah College Matt Burkhart, who shot a 138.

The Garnet return to action Monday when its hosts the annual Swarthmore Fall Invitational at Rock Manor Country Club. Play is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
