2011 Season Review
2011 Swarthmore Golf (5th Place Centennial Conference)
Paul Weston ’12 earned All-Centennial Conference honors for the second-consecutive season, finishing third, with a three-round total of 230, at the Centennial Conference Championships at Stonewall Golf Club in Elverson, Pa. Weston’s third-place finish was the highest by a Garnet golfer since current teammate Alex Nichamin ’12 tied for third in 2009.
As a team, the Garnet put together one of the program’s best seasons in a decade, finishing in first place in four events and breaking the program’s all-time 18-hole team low score (303) at the Wilmington University Spring Classic. At the McDaniel Spring Invitational in March, as Swarthmore finished second overall in a field of 14 and first among Centennial Conference teams.
Several first-years played a critical role in the Garnet’s success. Kyle Knapp ’14 finished with the team’s second-best and Centennial Conference’s seventh-best stroke average (80.0) and tied for 10th place at the Centennial Championships.
