Andrew Park Named to Division III PING All-Freshmen Team and Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Freshman Andrew Park of the Swarthmore College golf team has been named to the Division III PING National All-Freshman Team and to the Division III PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday evening.
Park is the first player in program history to be named to the all-freshman team and also the first player named to the all-region team.
Park is one of six freshmen on the national Division III PING All-Freshman Team, representing the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Park (Seoul, South Korea/Seoul Foreign) is coming off an outstanding rookie campaign in which he led the team and ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region in stroke average (77.0). At the season ending Centennial Conference Championship, Park carded a 230 - including a final-round 73 - to finish fourth overall, becoming just the 16th freshman and first since 2009 to earn First Team All-Centennial Conference honors. Thanks in part to the play of Park, Swarthmore finished in second place at the Centennial Championship, equaling the best finish in program history.
As a member of the national Division III All-Freshmen Team, Park is eligible for the Phil Mickelson Award, which is presented by the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation to the most outstanding freshman in Division III men's golf. The Mickelson Award will be presented Friday, May 18 following the final round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
Park is one of six players on the Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team, joined by Cameron Warner (F&M), James Lillie (McDaniel) and Greg Bowman (McDaniel) of the Centennial Conference.
