Jim Heller Named Centennial Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year
LANCASTER, Pa. - Head golf coach Jim Heller has been named the 2012 Centennial Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
In his seventh season at the helm of the golf program, Heller guided the Garnet to a second place finish at the Centennial Conference Championship last weekend. The second-place finish equaled the 2007 squad for the best Centennial Championship result in program history. Two members of the team - senior Paul Weston and freshman Andrew Park - earned All-Conference honors while Weston became just the second golfer in program history to finish tied for first place individually at the Centennial Conference Championship.
Outside of the Championship tournament, the Garnet reached many significant milestones during the 2011-12 season. During the 2011 fall season, the squad set both the team and individual low round records; the team shot a record-low 294 in the Immaculata Invitational while sophomore Jeff Wall set the individual round record with a 69 in the Swarthmore Invitational. In the spring, the Garnet finished in the top three of the Dickinson Invitational, McDaniel Invitational and Messiah Falcon Classic while receiving votes in the GCAA National Rankings for the first time in program history.
