Golf Falls to Fifth Place Finish on Final Day of Glenmaura National College Invite
MOOSIC, Pa. - Despite great second day play from senior Paul Weston, the Swarthmore golf team dropped two spots and tied for fifth place with Gettysburg College, shooting a combined 616 for the tournament on Monday afternoon. Weston posted a team leading 75 on day two.
Swarthmore came up only five strokes shy of second place and Conference foe McDaniel who finished with a 611.
Freshman Andrew Park put together Swarthmore's best overall tournament performance and finished tied for 10th place, posting a 79 on the second day to add to his day one 74.
The Garnet had two more players finish in the top 20 with sophomores Sam White and Jeff Wall finishing T-14th and T-19 respectively. White shot a 78 on day two and trailed Park's two-day total by only one stroke with a combined 154.
Wall closed out the tournament shooting an 80 and combined 155 after his four-over 75 on Sunday.
Weston recovered from his rough day one 82 with a strong final day performance to bump him up four spots, from 27th to 23rd overall and rounded out Swat's top four players for the weekend.
All five of Swarthmore's players finished in the top 25 of the 45 golfers over the weekend with sophomore Kyle Knapp ending his second round T-25th with an 81.
Swarthmore returns to action on Tuesday, April 24th when it plays in the Messiah Falcon Classic to take on the Blue Ridge Country Club course one final time before the Centennial Conference Championships.
