White Leads the Golf Team on Day One of McDaniel Invitational, Team Sits in Fourth Place
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore Sam White shot a 75 on Saturday afternoon to lead the Swarthmore golf team on day one of the McDaniel Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club. White's 75 put him tied for sixth place in the field of 89 golfers. The Garnet compiled a team score of 315 and currently sit in fourth place heading into day two.
Only three strokes behind White, senior Paul Weston shot a 78 and accompanied by nine other golfers tied for 13th overall.
Rounding out Swarthmore's top five golfers, freshman Andrew Park and sophomores Kyle Knapp and Jeff Wall each carded an 81 on a rainy day one.
White sits only three strokes behind the leader, Skidmore's Brett Augenstein, who shot a 72.
Swarthmore's team score of 315 is only two strokes behind McDaniel who sits in third place and is the only Conference team to best the Garnet on day one.
On the women's side, freshman Amanda Beebe shot an 87 and is currently tied for 15th in the field of 58.
Tournament play will continue tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:30 AM at the Bridges Golf Club.
