Men's Golf Overcomes Windy Conditions to Win Quad Match; Beebe Takes Fourth at Eastern
SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Led by a low score, 79, from freshman Andrew Park, the Swarthmore golf team fought off 40 mph wind gusts and posted a team score of 327 to edge Drexel's 329 and win the quad match at Rolling Green Country Club.
Penn St.-Harrisburg finished third on the day, shooting a 348 as a team while Widener rounded out the scores with a 381.
With its win over Widener, Swarthmore earns another 320 challenge victory.
Drexel's Vincent Anagnos had a great day, posting the overall low individual score of the day with a one-over par 73.
Following closely behind Park's 79, senior Paul Weston carded an 80 to claim Swat's second best round of the day.
Sophomores Kyle Knapp and Jeff Wall brought in Swarthmore final two low score with Knapp shooting an 82 and Wall an 86.
Also competing on Monday were three individuals from the men's team and freshman Amanda Beebe at the Eastern Invitational at White Manor.
Beebe finished fourth overall among a field of 24 in the women's competition with a 99. Freshman Sam Tomlinson shot a 78 in the men's competition to finish third in a field of 39.
The Garnet will return to the course on Saturday when it travels to the Bridges Golf Club the the McDanield two-day tournament. Tee-off is set for 1:00 PM on Saturday and 9:00 AM on Sunday.
