Park Wins Immaculata Invitational; Leads Golf to School Record 294
AVONDALE, Pa. - Freshman Andrew Park broke a three-way tie for first place to capture the Immaculata Fall Invitational title with a two day score of 145, shooting a 74 on day one and a 71 in the final round on Monday at Inniscrone Golf Club.
Swarthmore finished third as a team thanks to a breakthrough performance on day two where the team shot a school record 294.
The Garnet found themselves sitting in fourth place after round one, shooting a 314 as a team as Park's 74 led the way followed by sophomore Kyle Knapp's 76 and three 82s from sophomore Jeff Wall and seniors Paul Weston and Alex Nichamin.
Swat turned it around on day two as both Park and Weston carded the two lowest rounds of the day, each turning in a one over par, 71. Weston finished 10th place in the field of 72 golfers.
Knapp didn't disappoint in the second round either, handing in a 75 for Swarthmore and tying for eight place overall.
The Garnet's fourth low score of round two was a 77 handed in by Wall who finished tied for 23rd with a tournament score of 159.
Nichamin shot an 84 on the second day and finished tied for 34th with a 166.
Sophomore Sam White and senior Alex Leichter also competed at the Invitational as individuals. White finished tied for 28th, shooting an 83 and a 78 while Leichter finished tied for 65th with a 104 and a 94.
The tournament wraps up Swarthmore's fall season until the team returns to the links for spring play in March.
