Golf Team Shoots 313, Place Fourth at Philadelphia University Invitational
LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - Senior Paul Weston came through with a one-over 73 to place second and lead the Swarthmore golf team to a fourth place team finish in the field of 14 at the Philadelphia University Invitational on Tuesday afternoon from the Ace Club.
Swarthmore shot a 313 as a team, besting Division I Drexel University by a stroke while Goldey-Beacom College took the team title, shooting 300.
Freshman Andrew Park came in only a few strokes behind Weston, carding a 76 en route to a seventh place finish in the field of more that 70 golfers.
Rounding out Swat's top four golfers were senior Alex Nichamin and sophomore Jeff Wall, brining in a pair of 82s. Sophomore Kyle Knapp shot an 83 for the Garnet's fifth score of the day.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Sam Tomlinson put up an 84 for the day.
Swarthmore's fourth place finish enough to edge all other Division III teams in the tournament.
The Swarthmore golf team takes a break before returning to the links for its fall season finale on October 22-23 when it competes in the Immaculata Invitational.
