Karl Barkley Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week
LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophomore Karl Barkley of the Swarthmore College men's basketball team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 16, the conference announced on Monday.
Barkley poured in a career-high 26 points on 6-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc as the Garnet defeated Delaware Valley, 81-72. He was 8-of-11 overall from the field. The sophomore currently leads the Centennial Conference in three-point shooting percentage (50 percent) and made three-pointers (25).
Barkley is the first member of the men's basketball team to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Week since Will Gates earned the honor on December 7, 2009.
The Garnet (3-6, 2-3) returns to action on Saturday, December 29 at nationally-ranked St. Mary's (Md.) in the Seahawk Classic. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
