Gates Named to All-Centennial Second Team
LANCASTER, Pa. - Junior Will Gates of the Swarthmore College men's basketball team has been named to the All-Centennial Conference Second Team, the Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
This is Gates' third selection to the All-Centennial Team, having been named to the Second Team in 2010 and Honorable Mention in 2011.
Gates led the Garnet in scoring (18.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg) during the 2011-12 season, finishing fourth and sixth in the Centennial in each category respectively.
Early in the 2011-12 season, Gates became the 18th and fastest player to reach 1,000 career points in program history. With 1,309 career points, Gates ranks fifth all-time in program history entering his senior season. Gates also became just the 13th player in program history to reach 500 career rebounds and just the eighth player to record 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds during the 2011-12 season.
