Field Hockey Falls to Arcadia in OT, 2-1

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Sophomore Nia Jones scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 52nd minute, but it wasn't enough as homestanding Arcadia rallied to defeat the Swarthmore College field hockey team (7-8, 4-4) in overtime by the score of 2-1 on Friday afternoon.

The loss snaps the Garnet's three-game winning streak.

Jones' unassisted strike came after 51 minutes of scoreless play. The Garnet's lead would be short lived, however, as the Knights (5-12) responded just two minutes later on goal from Marilyn Beatty, knotting the score at 1-1.

The game would remain tied through regulation before heading into overtime. Just 2:23 into OT, the Knights' Molly Goldstein scored the game-winner off a penalty corner to give Arcadia the 2-1 non-conference win.

In goal for the Garnet, sophomore Gabriella Capone made three first half saves.

The loss drops the Garnet to 1-2 in overtime games this season.

It's a very short turnaround as the Garnet host Elizabethtown in its Garnet Homecoming match at 3:30 from Clothier Field Stadium.
