Head coach Stan Exeter enters his sixth season at the helm of the Swarthmore after leading the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons.
Exeter, the 2010 Centennial Conference Coach of the Year and a two-time Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, had a record of 181-166 in 10 years at Arcadia, capturing a pair of conference championships—the most recent coming in 2006 when the Knights posted a record of 27-14 (18-3 in conference). In 2004, Exeter led Arcadia to a conference championship as well as an end-of-season national ranking by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He has coached three All-Americans, seven All-Region selections, and nearly three dozen All-Conference players. At Arcadia, Exeter managed to make the conference championships every year dating back to the 2002 season. In addition to coaching baseball, he managed all athletic event operations and personnel for the past ten years at Arcadia.
Exeter's passion for baseball extends beyond his own team as he has been an avid participant within the entire NCAA baseball community, principally in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He was included in the NCAA virtual focus group in 2005, and served as NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Site Director in 2005. For the last three years he has also been on the NCAA Regional Baseball Selection Committee.
Exeter graduated from Lafayette in 1992 with a B.A. in Government and Law and was twice named to the All-Patriot League while playing for the Division-I Leopards.
Rob Itri
| Title: | Assistant Baseball Coach |
| College: | BYU '02 |
A graduate of local Marple Newtown High School, Rob is entering his second season as assistant baseball coach at Swarthmore College. Rob is responsible for working with infielders and hitters along with recruiting.
After prepping at Marple Newtown he continued his baseball career at Division I Brigham Young University. As a player he held a career Mountain West Conference batting average of .352 and helped lead the 2002 team to the NCAA Division I Regional Championship game against USC hitting .325 with five homeruns and 57 RBI’s on the season.
Before taking the job at Swarthmore, Rob worked as the Assistant Baseball Coach at Arcadia University responsible for working with hitters and infielders. During his two seasons with the Knights, hitters saw significant improvements. At the end of his first season returning hitters had raised their individual batting averages an average of 44 points per player from the previous season. At the conclusion of this past season hitters saw similar improvements with all but one of the returning hitters setting career highs in batting average, on base percentage, and slugging percentage.
Rob is also the Director of the Maplezone MuckDawgs Travel Team Program.
He received his Master's degree from West Chester in 2010.
Eric Pearlman
| Title: | Assistant Baseball Coach |
| College: | West Chester '06 |
Eric Pearlman is in his second season as an assistant coach at Swarthmore College. Last year, he was in charge of working with the catchers. As his role expanded throughout the season, he began to get involved in all phases of the baseball program. Along with working with the catchers, Coach Pearl has taken over duties as the pitching coach and the recruiting coordinator.
A former catcher at West Chester University, Pearlman helped West Chester win its first regional championship in 2006 and the school’s first trip to the Division II College World Series in Montgomery, Alabama. During his time at West Chester University, he was part of the most successful four years in program history.
Prior to his coaching duties at Swarthmore College, Pearlman came from his alma mater Harriton Senior High school in the Lower Merion School District, where he was all-state in baseball and soccer. He graduated from Harriton in 2004 and helped Harriton’s baseball team win its first conference championship in over 25 seasons. He holds several school records in baseball and soccer. After graduating he served three years as the varsity baseball and freshman soccer coach.
Pearlman has also spent time coaching travel soccer for the elite Lower Merion Soccer Club, as well as coaching several teams for the Muckdawgs baseball program. Pearlman, a very passionate, dedicated coach, brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the Swarthmore baseball staff.
