LANCASTER, Pa. - Three members of the Swarthmore College baseball team - senior Anthony Montalbano, senior Mike Waterhouse and junior Tim Kwilos - have been named to the 2012 All-Centennial Conference Baseball Team, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore baseball team ended its 2012 season on a low note on Saturday, suffering a doubleheader loss to the Dickinson Red Devils, 7-1 and 2-0. The loss drops the Garnet to 7-11 in Centennial Conference play to finish the year.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - As the Class of 2012 played its final games at Clothier Field, the Swarthmore baseball team (21-12, 7-8 CC) showed all of its offensive might on Saturday in a doubleheader pounding of the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats (16-20, 5-10 CC). The Garnet won the first game 13-5, and followed up with a 19-0 blowout in Game 2.

Baseball Drop Critical Conference Game to Ursinus, Fall 5-3
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - A two-RBI day from junior right-fielder Tim Kwilos was not enough to save the Swarthmore baseball team (19-13, 5-9 CC) from a critical defeat on Friday, as the team fell 5-3 to the Ursinus Bears (15-18, 6-8 CC). The loss drops the Garnet to 5-9 in Centennial Conference play and effectively ends the chase for the postseason.

Ninth Inning Rally Propels Baseball to Walk-Off Win Over Ursinus, 9-8
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - On the strength of a ninth-inning rally and a walk-off, two-run double from senior Anthony Montalbano, the Swarthmore baseball (19-12, 5-8 CC) team turned in its most dramatic performance of the Centennial Conference season on Tuesday, defeating the Ursinus Bears (13-17, 5-8 CC) 9-8 after trailing by three runs going into the bottom of the ninth. The win was all but necessary for the Garnet, as the team continues to fight for a Conference playoff spot as the season draws to a close.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Despite a four-hit day from senior second baseman Anthony Montalbano, the Swarthmore baseball team (18-12, 4-7) was done-in by costly errors and silent bats, dropping a pair of games to the McDaniel Green Terror by 4-3 and 11-3 scores on Saturday.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Buoyed by eight strong innings from senior starter Kyle Crawford, the Swarthmore baseball team (17-10, 3-6 CC) got back on the right track on Tuesday, taking down the Centennial Conference rival Muhlenberg Mules (18-13, 2-7 CC) by an 8-6 score. The win snapped the Garnet's season-high five-game losing streak.

BALTIMORE - The Swarthmore College baseball team (16-10, 2-6) continued its mid-season struggles on Saturday, getting swept in a doubleheader by defending Centennial Champ Johns Hopkins. The Garnet dropped the first game 6-3 after hanging tight into the late innings, and lost Game 2 by a 13-3 score.

Ninth-Inning Rally Falls Short as Baseball Loses to Washington College 12-10
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - A five-run bottom of the ninth brought a healthy dose of drama to what appeared to be a blowout, but the Swarthmore College baseball team (16-8, 2-5) couldn't quite overcome a seven-run ninth inning deficit and fell to the Washington College Shoremen, 12-10.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Despite a three-hit day from senior first baseman Spencer Ross and an eleven-strikeout performance from senior starter Ignacio Rodriguez, the Swarthmore baseball team fell just short against the Centennial Conference rival Washington Shoremen, losing 5-3 at Athey Park. The defeat marks the first time all season that the Garnet has lost consecutive games.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Capitalizing on clutch Game 1 offense and a five-hit day from freshman shortstop Danny McMahon, the Swarthmore baseball team fought to a split with the Gettysburg Bullets on Saturday at Kirchoff Field. The Garnet took the first game 7-3 before defensive lapses and two-out rallies led to a 9-5 loss in Game 2.

Kwilos and Company Tame the Griffins, 7-3
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Junior Tim Kwilos was a home run shy of hitting the cycle on Tuesday afternoon, going three-for-four with a single, double and triple along with three RBI and a run, leading the Swarthmore baseball team (13-4) to a 7-3 non-conference victory over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins (8-6). Kwilos' knocked in three runs and scored one over the 7th and 8th innings. He put the Garnet on top for the first time with a two-RBI triple in the seventh inning and followed that up in the 8th with an RBI double to tally Swat's 7th and final run.

Crawford, Offense Lead Swarthmore to Split with Bates
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - An offensive onslaught and an ace-like performance from senior starter Kyle Crawford helped the Swarthmore baseball team to a doubleheader split with the Bates Bobcats on Sunday. The Garnet dominated Game 1, winning 13-0, before falling 7-2 in the second game.

The win was Swarthmore's 9th in a row, as the team stayed in fine form after returning from an undefeated spring break trip.

Miracle Comeback Caps Perfect Spring Break for Swarthmore Baseball
CHANDLER, Ariz. - Trailing 8-2 and down to its final out, the Swarthmore College baseball team (10-2) completed a comeback for the ages, scoring 11 runs on four homers to stun Pitt-Bradford 13-8 in the second game of a doubleheader from Chandler, Arizona on Friday afternoon. The Garnet won the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 6-3, completing a perfect 8-0 Spring Break trip and continuing one of the best starts in program history.

TUCSON, Ariz. - After combining for 26 runs in Saturday’s doubleheader, the Swarthmore College baseball team did not let up on Sunday, sweeping its second spring break doubleheader in a row by scores of 6-5 and 13-4 over the Bethany Lutheran Vikings.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Benefitting from promising performances offensively and on the mound, the Swarthmore baseball team (2-2) earned its second doubleheader split in as many days. In the season home opener, the Garnet hit its way to a 7-4 Game one victory over the Eastern Eagles (1-1) and took a lead into the late innings of Game 2 before finding itself on the wrong end of a 7-4 score.

WASHINGTON - Paced by an ace-like performance from senior left-hander Ignacio Rodriguez, the Swarthmore baseball team split a season-opening doubleheader against the Catholic University Cardinals on Saturday. The Garnet took Game 1 by a 7-0 score before dropping the second game, 12-6.

2012 Baseball Season Preview
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The 2011 season was a rollercoaster ride for the Swarthmore baseball team. The Garnet won 20 games for the second year in a row for the first time in program history -- including a historic sweep of Centennial Conference powerhouse Johns Hopkins -- but missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. In 2012, the team looks to rebound from its 2011 finish and continue the team's multi-year streak of success and improvement.
