Men's Basketball Sails Past Shoremen

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Basketball, currently ranked No. 11 nationally, stifled the visiting Washington College Shoremen on Thursday night. Swarthmore's defense held Washington to just six points in the first 10 minutes and only 17 points in the first half. The Garnet went on to win 62-47 and improved to 16-2 on the season and 10-1 in conference play.

Robbie Walsh dominated in the lane, scoring a team-high 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Walsh shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor and was 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. Walsh's stat line also included a pair of assists and blocks and three steals.

In each of the last three games, Walsh has registered a double-double.

The only other Garnet player to score at least 10 points was Conor Harkins who splashed three 3-pointers en route to an 11-point game.

Swarthmore ran out to a 22-6 lead to start the game, capping the run with Harkins fooling his defender with a pump fake to set up a long jumper.

Threes from Harkins and Ingram led Swarthmore to a 20-point advantage with four minutes left in the first half.
Swarthmore's double-digit lead held and the Garnet were up by as many as 22 points in the second half. Robbie Walsh put an exclamation mark on the win with a two-handed dunk with six minutes left.

Swarthmore plays at Gettysburg College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
