SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Basketball is set to make its first ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance this Friday. For this first trip to the NCAA Tournament, the Garnet won't even have to leave their own building. Swarthmore learned in Monday afternoon's selection show that it would be the host of the first two rounds of the postseason tournament. The 64-team bracket is split up into 16 regional groupings. Swarthmore will host two games on Friday and then one on Saturday.
Swarthmore (22-5) won its first ever Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday and earned the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. For the first-round matchup, the Garnet are pitted against the CUNYAC champion College of Staten Island Dolphins (21-6) who enter the NCAA Tournament riding a 15-game win streak.
The other matchup on Friday in Swarthmore's regional pod is Christopher Newport (25-2) and Morrisville St. (22-6), champions of the CAC and the NEAC, respectively. The winners of Friday's games will meet on Saturday vying for a chance to play in the national quarterfinals.
