Osazenoriuwa Ebose of the Swarthmore College women's track & field team earned All-America laurels by placing seventh in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 23 at St. Lawrence's Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex.
Ebose, who ranks ninth on the all-time Division III list in her premier event, registered a toss that traveled 46-feet, 2-inches on her first throw of the afternoon. Cherae Reeves of Concordia-Moorhead won the event by recording a mark of 49-3.50 on her second attempt in the finals.
With today's seventh-place finish, Ebose became the sixth student-athlete and first thrower in the history of the Swarthmore College women's track & field program to earn All-America recognition outdoors. The others are Desiree Peterkin '00 in the triple jump (1997, 1998 & 2000), Jokotade Agunloye '01 in the 5,000- and 10,000-meters (2001), Hall of Famer Imo Akpan '02 in the 400-meters (2002), Rebecca Hammond '13 in the 1,500-meters (2013) and
Katie Jo McMenamin in the 1,500-meters (2014).
