PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Swarthmore College softball program participated in the annual Parkway Run on Sunday, Sept. 28 in Philadelphia.
Every September, thousands of people come together on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia to raise money for pediatric cancer research and survivorship at the Cancer Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The annual
Four Seasons Parkway Run & Walk has raised more than $7 million for cancer research and survivorship at CHOP.
Head coach
Renee Clarke and members of the Swarthmore softball program were among more than 10,000 runners and walkers who helped raise a record-breaking $1.2 million for pediatric cancer research and survivorship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia yesterday. The Garnet, who have participated eight times since 2006, ran as a team in the 5,000-meter race before walkers navigated a 2k circuit through the city.
"This was my third year participating in the run, and it's awesome to be able to accomplish something together for such a worthy charity," said senior tri-captain
Chelsea Matzko, who helped organize the team's efforts for the event.
